OVERVIEW

Wardenski P.C. is a civil rights law firm dedicated to fulfilling the central promise of the nation’s civil rights laws: combating and dismantling discrimination and segregation in American society. The New York City-based firm litigates civil rights cases and provides legal consulting services on civil rights legal strategy and compliance.

The firm was founded in 2021 by experienced civil rights attorney Joseph Wardenski. Joe brings years of experience litigating complex and groundbreaking civil rights cases at the U.S. Department of Justice, the New York State Attorney General’s Office, and in private practice. Joe has led case teams in achieving high-profile victories in federal courts around the country, including obtaining the precedent-setting Seventh Circuit decision in Whitaker v. Kenosha School District holding that public schools’ discrimination against transgender students violates federal law; securing a final order in Flack v. Wisconsin Department of Health Services striking down a state Medicaid program’s discriminatory coverage exclusion on gender-affirming care for transgender beneficiaries; and attaining an historic court order requiring a Mississippi school district to desegregate its secondary schools over 60 years after the Supreme Court held segregation unlawful in Brown v. Board of Education.
